TRILIFE 24 HOUR ADRENALIN CHAMPIONSHIPAY 22

Trilife, the promoter who boldly made 24-hour racing a National and World Championship event gave the races to NORBA on a literal silverplatter. NORBA, despite years of prior notice that the National Championship 24-hour event was to take place in Monterey on May 17th, failed to recognize the importance of Trilife’s premier race and instead scheduled the Big Bear national series event at the same time. Surprise! Surprise!

We explained to them that Trilife is a for-profit company. Chad Granier, Trilife co-founder, stated that if we run our business like you do, we’d be gone in a year.

EVERY BODY LOSES ONE LITTLE
The Big Bear NCS and Trilife 4-hour National Championships are varied enough to not kill the turnout, but there were still riders who had to choose between them. It meant Tinker Juarez would not be racing Big Bear. Tinker, the defending 24 Hours of Adrenalin Solo National Champion, drove 275 miles north in order to race in Monterey.

All hail the master of pain, the dredlocked king! Tinker won his third 24 Hours of Adrenalin National title with this win.

NORBA claims that Trilifes Laguna Seca Race will not be recognized as a National Title. However, this is a ridiculous claim considering that NORBA has lost its title and TV sponsors and cant find enough funds to support its National Series.

As anyone who has attended Trilifes 24hoursofadrenalin events will attest, they are mega-well-run, kick-in-the-pants, something-for-everyone races. You should try it if you don’t have the opportunity. Here’s how Monterey ended up:

MISSING STARTS
It will be obvious that Chris Eatough, the three-time World Solo 24 Hours Champion, is not in the results. He was there. Chris battled with Tinker, until he reached the halfway point. He was suffering from severe sciatic nerve pain in his legs.

Nancy Busching, Women National Solo Champion, also did not race. She was pregnant and couldn’t defend the title.

NATIONAL RESULT
Laguna Seca Recreation Area hosted the U.S. 24 Hours of Adrenalin National Championship. The national course was a 12.52 mile loop with 716.3m of climbing. Tinker covered 263 miles in less than a day to win the race.
