LATEST UPDATE TRAVIS BROWN

Trek just sent me an update on Travis Brown, the star rider and Olympic hopeful who suffered a broken tibia after a crash at Mexico World Cup a week ago. Travis is doing well, considering. Travis took the crank off his bike and sat down on a chair to pedal light. Next Tuesday, he will try soft pedaling with both his legs at Therapy.
Travis has stopped taking pain medication and is icing his legs all day. He feels his recovery will be quick thanks to systematic rehab and is eager to get back on his bike for training.
The normal diagnosis is six weeks before Travis is expected to be able put full weight on his leg. Travis’s leg is already in a good place and he is giving it his best.
The big question is what his Olympic outlook looks like. Travis could make his return at the Canadian World Cups, which is the most optimistic scenario. In reality, the Olympic committee is likely to weigh those 2 races most before making their selection on July 14th. It all depends on Travis’s recovery time and the form Travis finds.
He wrote in an email, « Mentally, it could turn out positive. » It has relieved me of a lot pressure and allowed me to take some time to think about racing and the Olympics. It truly puts things in perspective. ?
What’s he doing with his life in the interim?
Six times per day, I do?Rehab exercises. There are many projects around the house I haven’t had time for. Answering emails. Sending good wishes. ?
Email him if you wish him well
